THE PEACE OF THE LORD

THE PEACE OF THE LORD

The Peace of the Lord is something that many people strive for in their lives. It brings a sense of calmness, comfort and guidance to those who seek it.

Peace can be defined as the absence of conflicts, freedom from disturbances, or a state of tranquillity. In the context of religion, Peace takes on a deeper meaning—the inner harmony and serenity that comes from having a relationship with God.

Throughout history, people have sought Peace in different ways. Some turn to meditation or yoga, while others find solace in nature. However, true and lasting Peace can only come from a relationship with God.

The Bible speaks extensively on the topic of Peace.

  1. In John 14:27, Jesus says, "Peace I leave with you; my Peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not be afraid."  This verse reminds us that the Peace of God surpasses all understanding and is a gift freely given to those who believe in Him.
  2. In addition, Psalm 29:11 says, "The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace."  This verse shows us that not only does God offer us Peace, but He also gives us the strength to hold onto it and live in Peace even amid chaos.
  3. As believers, we are called to be peacemakers. In Matthew 5:9, Jesus says, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God."  This means that we are not only meant to experience Peace in our own lives but also to spread it among others. We start by sharing the gift of salvation with others.
  4. One way to spread Peace is through forgiveness. Colossians 3:13 says, "Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you."  Forgiveness is a powerful tool that can help us find Peace within ourselves and our relationships with others.
  5. Another way to spread Peace is to be understanding and empathetic toward others. Romans 12:18 says, "If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone."  This verse reminds us to try our best to live in harmony with others and to seek Peace in our interactions.

In conclusion, the Peace of the Lord is something that we should all strive for in our lives. It is a gift given to us by God, and it can help us navigate through life's challenges with serenity and faith. As Christians, let us not only seek this Peace for ourselves but also spread it among those around us, making the world a more peaceful place. Ultimately, Peace begins with every one of us, so let us hold onto the Peace that Christ offers us and share it with others, bringing harmony and understanding to our communities. Let us be peacemakers in a world that is often filled with conflict, showing the love and grace of God through our actions and words and remember to share this Peace with others. We can achieve this by sharing our source of Peace with others- we start by telling our salvation story. In doing so, we are fulfilling our purpose as children of God.

"Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, for as members of one body you are called to peace." (Colossians 3:15)
